Banishing Negativity

Merry Meet!
I've recently decided to make some changes in my life. I know I spend a lot of time making things and showing you how to make things for your Craft. But there is one thing that I think needs to be tackled in my life and maybe you need it in yours as well.

I'm battling a bit of depression right now. I'm not sure where it came from or why but I've had to do a massive cleansing of my friends, my family and my home. I haven't been working on my book, minus what I posted most recently and before that I hadn't touched my book or anything with the Craft in months (despite my posts, which I scheduled out and had written probably last year during my illness break from school).

For my mother's birthday I made her a charm bracelet. I purchased the basic bracelet for $2 at Michaels, bought beads in unakite and hematite, some of my mother's favorite stones, then I used red jasper and onyx beads that I already had. I place a pentagram, triquetra, Green Man and Goddess charms every couple of links and then on either side of each charm I added beads in the various gems.

My mom had been feeling very down and very depressed. She was such a horrid negative influence on me that I found myself distancing myself from her for my own protection. So I made her a bracelet to ward it off. I even did a full moon spell to grant the wearer of the bracelet (a.k.a my mother) protection from negative influences. I'm really good with protection enchantments and spells. That's basically my forte when it comes to spell casting.

Only problem being I am now facing the same problem and I'm not good at spells on myself. Truly, I work magic (tehehehehe) for others but for myself it is no dice. I always wear Onyx. That's my stone, it is as black as my soul and its worn for protection.  I've a special necklace that I found that was handmade, it has a bit of amethyst in it which I love because that helps ward off the insomnia and headaches.

This is extremely similar to my favorite pendant that I always wear.
I've decided to eliminate social media from my life. The images on Facebook, Twitter and even Instagram have been entirely too overwhelming and hurtful. I cannot cleanse my social media in the traditional way I cleanse my apartment or my jewelry. I cannot do a spell over my social media. Removing the harmful people and negative images would be too overwhelming a task. So I've warned the people in my life and I've let them know that by the end of next week I will no longer be using social media outlets and you'll have to e-mail or text me in order to get a hold of me.

But what if that isn't the problem? I've begun to wonder if the problem is me. That perhaps I've picked up a ghoul or a ghostie, some kind of spirit that is hell bent on driving me mad. Maybe it's hormones? I did recently change my birth control. Either way it is time for an emotional cleanse. So in light of that I thought I would share a topic that I don't usually delve into even though, like protection spells, stones are kind of where my A Game is played. My mother is more into herbs and tarot cards and healing spells and I play with stones and protection spells.

I can banish a demon like it's nobody's business, you know as long as it isn't my own, and I usually prescribe a heavily dosed gemstone for everyday. So typically the gemstones (and what I advise them to wear it for) are below:

Black is typically the color for banishing or protection, if the stone says a color (I.E: Black Onyx) before the name of the stone that is because it comes in many different colors and those other colors have different metaphysical properties!

General Protection:
Black Onyx, Black Obsidian (aka: Apache Tear), Jet, Black Tourmaline, Turquoise, Smoky Quartz, and Clear Quartz

Protection from Psychic Attacks:
Amber, Amethyst, Black Obsidian (Apache Tear), Fluorite, Jade and Malachite

One of my favorite websites, Crystal Cure, which is lovely because it has a huge selection of crystals and gives meanings for each particular piece has a nice section on Talismans and Amulets. That's basically what I make people and I often use their information in selection gemstones.

Here's what they have written on the subject of Talismans and Amulets:
Talismans and amulets have been used for protection around the world by many different cultures for thousands of years. A talisman is a small object that a person carries with them with the belief that the object will help manifest a specific end, usually to bring good fortune or to help in the achievement of a goal. A good luck charm is an example of a talisman. The Egyptian Ankh is another example. Stones, rings, charms, and amulets are commonly used as talismans, and they are often engraved with symbols, totems, figures, or characters.

An amulet is a small object that is made and worn or carried specifically for protection, usually to ward off evil and to protect against illness or harm. Amulets are most often rings or pendants to be worn around the neck; but charms, fetishes, good-luck objects, and small carvings can also be used as amulets, and are usually carried in a small bag or pouch that is either worn around the neck or kept in a pocket. It is common for these objects to be made of stone or to have stones on them.

Protection Stones Commonly Worn as Amulets:
  • Agate: protects against danger, worldly troubles, and harmful spirits. Protects one while traveling.
  • Eye Agate: wards off the evil eye.
  • Amber: protects the aura and works as a protector in general.
  • Amethyst: protects against drunkenness, hailstorms, thunderstorms and lightning, black witchcraft, psychic attack, and healing burnout. Protects one while traveling. Protects soldiers from harm. Wards off attempts by others to steal one’s power.
  • Angelite: increases angelic protection.
  • Apache Tear: protects the aura and protects one against environmental stresses.
  • Aquamarine: protects one against drowning and when traveling over water. Counteracts the lure of dark spirits and procures wise ones.

  • Smoky Quartz: protects and shields from harm and negative influences.

  • Ruby: shields against psychic attack and misfortune.
  • Sugilite: protects the soul from shocks and disappointments.
  • Tiger Eye: protects against harmful spirit intrusions. Protects travelers in automobiles from accidents.
  • Blue Topaz: protects from harm.
  • Black Tourmaline:protects against harmful physical and psychic influences such as psychic attack, psychic vampires, spirit possession, and harmful spirit intrusions. Protects the aura against negative thought forms and energy. Protects against spells, ill-wishing, microwaves, radiation, and environmental and geopathic stresses.
  • Turquoise:protects from physical injury, especially broken bones, and from danger.
With that comprehensive list of possible stones, it should be fairly easy to begin banishing negativity from your life. My advice is to preform an enchantment over the stone, jewelry or whatever you are using for protection on a Saturday, as Saturday's are the best day to do banishing spells.

In the opposite manner you could do an attraction or prosperity spell, where you try to attract positive energy into your life and while there isn't a day of the week specific for those types of spells where you want to attract positive energy rather than a new job or a lover I highly recommend doing it on a Thursday.
