How To Make Brighid's Cross For Imbolc in 4 Easy Steps
Greetings fellow magickal people! Last week I did a tutorial on how to make a Brideo'ga or Corn Husk Doll for Imbolc and this week I'm going to teach you how to make Brighid's Cross. There's a video, which I am going to put in here but I'm also going to write out the steps below just to help you out.
Here we go! You'll need the following supplies:
Step 1: Bend two pieces of straw in half. Loop their middles together and pull tight to form a right angle.
Step 2: Bend a third piece of straw in half and loop around the second piece of straw to form another right angle going in the opposite direction of the first. Take another piece and do the same but going the other way to form opposites.
Step 3: Bend another piece of straw in half, loop around third piece to form another right angle parallel to the first piece of straw.
Step 4: Repeat the above steps until you have four ends on all sides. Tie off all four ends.
When you are finished you should hang this above your fireplace, hearth or stove to honor Brighid.
TIP: Soak straw overnight in water to soften the straw and make it soft enough to bend and mold, then let it dry out after you have molded it. Adding water color or food dye will dye the straw fun colors. Try dying 4 pieces of straw a different color so you have 4 sets of 4 different colors of straw to create a neat pattern.
